Census Points?

Morning folks,

I was on my way into work this morning and I noticed something called a Census point being set up on the A34 in toward Stafford... now im not being retarded, I know what a census is.. but what need is there to put one on a Busy A road? there are signs saying 'if directed stop' I presume they just ask who you are and what you are doing?

Anyone encountered one?

Erm, that's the whole point - to see the traffic and journey patterns during rush hour

If they tell people the census will be there and traffic slower during rush hour, people find an alternative route so it's not a typical morning's / evening's traffic.

Probably means im gonna be stopped at some point this week then.

dont they check car details, insurance so on.

Wouldnt surprise me, bound to be some 5-0 to stop the traffic and they'll have a car with an ANPR on the go im betting.
