Just wondering if people are still heating their houses or have you turned it off now the milder weather is here?

Turned our off last weekend, been a looooong winter! Must admit though a couple of nights this week we have heated the living room with a blast of hot air from the electric fire.

Comparison usage from last year due to the terrible weather:

Jan 12 - 1,644.21 kWh / Jan 13 - 2,018.08 kWh
Feb 12 - 1,467.40 kWh / Feb 13 - 1,750.86 kWh
Mar 12 - 1,104.63 kWh / Mar 13 - 2,095.93 kWh

Mine is linked to a digital timer/thermostat. It allows me to program upto 6 points per day and have each day individual.

I leave the setting the same throughout the year (hour in morning, off all day and 3-4 hours at night then off all night) so the heating comes on whenever it is required within these times to maintain 20oC. In the Summer, the heating wont kick in as the house is too warm.

I never actually turn my heating off

Can you tell me what make is that digital timer/thermostat is please, must also have a outside sensor?
Been looking for one which can do more than 3 on/off per day.

The make is Honeywell but I dont see any model number. Its an older model as the previous occupants fitted it to go with the Vailliant boiler back in 1996. The boiler is in an external cupboard with the thermostat set in the hallway of the flat and connected by a wire to the boiler.

I can program 6 different times for each separate day i.e. 42 diff timings and it has a holiday mode and frost setting as well. Set and forget TBH.

There is no outside temp sensor. Not sure why you would want one to measure the temp outside as its the temp inside you are trying to maintain . The temp sensor is part of the unit itself.

Our boiler has been in bits for about 2 months, the heat exchanger cracked so I had to drain the whole system and leave it all off. We have two 2kw heaters to keep the whole house warm. My room is kept warm by my PC folding 24/7 since the heating broke :D

Turned it off last night. Not sure how long it will remain off though. The weather's too screwed up to think we're out of winter yet. :(
