Central Heating Temperatures

Ours is set to 22, it comes on from 7-9 and 8-11 or something.

I don't actually notice it, and don't even have my radiator turned on.... Whilst my flat complain about Norwich being cold, I just close my door and ramp up the graphics on whatever game I'm playing.... Whilst most people see a 480's heat production as a curse, it's absolutely fantastic in Winter xD

Combi boiler is set to 38c

Something isn't right.

if thats your hot water, its too cold, should be around 60c

it could be your heating side, which again is probably still too low, our radiators get upto around 55c..

what we're all talking about is room tempraures, we all have room thermostats..

a room should be around 18c to 24c, any higher or lower and it starts getting uncomfortable

I don't have a central heating system, well technically i do but for the sake of a radiator on the landing its not worth it.

Other than that I got up this morning, 8oC in the living room, I turn on my one oil heater. Maybe for an hour then turn it off. Conservatory steals all of the bloody heat overnight and gets all condensationy :(

It's a combi boiler.... so there is no hot water tank, and therefore no need for a minimum water temperature. 60C from a combi would be absurd - the water would trickle out the taps, and you would scald yourself. Combi boiler hot water should be set at around 42C really, but if 38C is hot enough for you then that's fine!

We don't have thermostats in the house anymore. Just changed the whole system to one with a weather compensator, so the boiler measures outside temperature and adjusts the temperature of the heating water accordingly. The colder it gets outside, the warmer the water flowing through the radiators and underfloor heating. And it is never 'off' (well, in the summer it is), it just varies the temp between occupancy and non-occupancy or night times. The house won't be freezing if i get up at 5am unexpectedly, just a little cooler than we have it in the day. And the boiler runs in condensing mode almost all the time due to the low return temp of the heating water (because of the weather compensator) so is more efficient :)

Granted, it cost more initially, but the level of comfort, and energy efficiency is well worth it imo!!

I don't have a thermostat in the new house, which confused the hell out of me for a while. All the rads have thermostatic valves which contol the temp.

Thermostat 19-20C

Seems to work very well. If desperately cold in the day just knock the 'extra hour' button for a quick boost.

you have a conservatory and live in scotland? whats the point in that

I rent the place, I know its so stupid, they coulda built an extension with like an actual kitchen so I had an actual living room instead of the living 'area' I currently have lol..

During the week mine comes on 07:30-08:30 (I'm not in by then but it just stops the house getting to cold) and then 16:30-18:30. Normally it's set to 17C.

At the weekend I'll normally over-ride the above times and have it on all day on the thermostat. If it's cold during the day and I'm in then I'll bump it up to 20C.
