Centre Parcs?

Morning folks,

Me and the girlfriend are considering Centre Parcs, specifically Elveden, for the easter weekend break. Now from what I can see its about 380 quid for us to get an apartment for three nights. Fully self catering I think?

Anyway it seems to me that to actually do anything once you are there, it all costs extra? I need to know from some of you guys that may have been whether it ends up extortionate or reasonable, and whether its worth bothering with regardless?

Thinking of taking rollerblades, would they allow this on site do you think?

We like to get away at Centre Parcs at least once a year, it's a proper holiday and you come back feeling relaxed. Stuff there can be expensive but at least it keeps the chavs out.
We goto the Sherwood Forest one and get an executive villa with sauna, the swimming is free but most other things are extra. Also book things before hand or when you first get there because things do get booked up quickly.
 
Elveden is just down the road from my parents' house. :)

Really good place, not sure I'd pay to go there myself at Easter though - it's exhorbitantly expensive at peak times. Can get some really good deals off-peak though. I haven't been for a few years now but we'd basically just go swimming all day, get some food in the evening then do some bowling or whatever... usually absolutely knackered by midnight. :o
 
Went to Center Parcs a lot when i was younger and took the ex there a year or two ago. It really is a lovely relaxing place to go, it is worlds away from butlins and the like, it is exclusive and you feel like you are in a muh different place.

Most things DO cost money, and most things aren't cheap. The swimming is included in the price. I would reccomend taking your own bikes as it is the best way to get about. hiring bikes there is an option. There are loads of place to cycle about,. the natura walks at night at pretty cheap.

If you go, do a food shop before you get there. There is a supermarket there, but it is quite pricey for stuff like booze, etc. Take what you can to save money.

I thoroughly reccomend though, you will enjoy it and leave feeling relaxed.
 
Been looking into this too - yes you do have to pay for most on-site activities (not to mention supplies for the lodge), but the prices, while certainly not cheap, don't look too bad from what I've seen.

I went there a few years back. Paid up front for a couple of things, such as rally challenge etc. Mainly got up in the morning and then chilled out or done a few activities aswell. Also went fishing when I was there. Then during the even got the bbq out and spent the evening drink beer.

It can get expensive, so I recommend that if you want to do any of the activities, to plan them out first.

Yeah it can be quite pricey but not everyone wants to go abroad and if you've got kids you can pretty much lose them for an entire week and know they will be supervised

Everything but the pool cost extra, and from what I remember it's not especially cheep.
 
I literally just came back from Elveden. We paid £250 for 3 nights in a hotel-like room place.

It's not cheap to do other stuff, and you *do* need to book up beforehand. Plan what you want to do and when, and then book it the week before you go. It can be very busy in places, but overall it's reasonably relaxing. The gf and I took an hour's sailing lesson (£47 I think), but as no-one else was crazy enough to go sailing this time of year, we had a great time.

I can imagine that it'll get astonishingly busy at Easter though.

Depends on how many are going and when.

It is costing us £360 for a week in May but for 4 adults and 3 children I think it would be pretty tricky to go abroad for that.
 
I used to go with my family all the time. I'm speaking of the Longleat one. Great free pool and the rapids are excellent. Expensive everything else. About circa £10 for 45 minutes of badminton as I remember. Lots of food choice, but can get pricey for a family. Bars don't stay open late.

If you were doing it on a budget, you can go swimming for free, hire a BBQ and cook your own food on your patio or in your villa for that holiday feel.
 
we used to go during February half term quite a bit when I was a child. It's pretty good-nice and relaxing. It's kind of family orientated tho isn't it? £380 sounds like quite a lot of money for 3 nights considering you will be forking out quite a bit extra for eating out, activities etc. I would quite like to go with friends or possibly just the missus. Wouldn't appreciate screaming kids tho! Actually on reflection I reckon I would actually prefer to rent a decent holiday cottage.
