Certificate error WEIRD!

I have just been dropped off a laptop to fix and it has a weird problem.

When visiting https websites it uses an invalid certificate it says that the certificate is expired or not valid yet. But the certificate looks authentic.

It looks like there is something on the PC hijacking the ssl certificates. I can not be sure yet, but it is very odd.

The pc is a windows xp, anyone having weird SSL certificate errors when visiting https websites ?

are you absolutely sure the date is correct. sounds silly but i have to ask.

go up the certificate tree until one of them lets you use the "view certificate" button. check the dates and the machine date. screenshots??

for example, in my XP VM tested just now, i can't view details for mail.live.com but the next certificate up, i can...

Ok nevermind it is fixed. sorry.

It was just the date was set to 2006 which was causing the problem.

Yea i had not read your reply by the time i posted the screenshots.

My first thought goes straight to some sort of ssl hijacking bot or something
