Got myself a PS5 and went to trade in my PS4.

Boxed, 2 controllers - well looked after as i'm an adult :D. Quoted £85 for console, £19 for extra controller.

Took it in and they said it's missing the HDMI. Ah ****! No probs, what does that mean? It means it's unboxed so i can give you £45 minus £2 for the HDMI.

"OK, sell me a HDMI cable now and i'll put in the box".

"No can do, has to be official and none in stock".

I let it go as i couldn't be arsed. However, travelling home, i get a call, "The right trigger on the controller is not depressing fully", we'll have to knock another £19 off".

"GTFO! I'm on my way back".

So now i'm sticking it on FB marketplace, or i'd rather give it to a local charity than these thieves.

First and last time using CEX..................and breathe.

Another update...............

I stuck a complaint in about the whole experience and have had an email back saying, "We ensure that essential accessories are included with them and for consoles, the essential accessories, like cables, can be original or third-party".

So the store lied to me............

"Based on the details shared in your email, i have initiated an investigation with the store management and i will get back to you within 24-48hrs".

I don't care on the outcome, i'll never shop there again, i just hope that particular store feel a bit of pressure about their scummy antics.

Final update:

I hope you are doing well, and thank you for your patience while I got this looked into.

After further review with our team, it was identified that both the controllers failed the test. One of the controllers had stick drift, whilst the other had the right trigger that would not press down fully when tested. Thus, a decision was reached not to proceed with the purchase.

Regarding the cables, we do accept unofficial third-party cables under boxed grade as well and feedback has been relayed to the store so that such instances can be averted.

So 2 issues with this, the store now says that both controllers failed. Not what they said to me at the store, nor what was written on the return slip. Also, they are now saying they don't accept 3rd party cables when the first email they sent to me said they do.

I've wasted enough time with these clowns, so drawing a line under it and choosing to vote with my feet :)
