Alright chaps. Bit random this but bear with me.

I'm after a new gaming chair. Currently I'm on one that I made myself, a racing car seat custom mounted onto the base of an old office chair. I do a lot of racing car games/sims so it's actually worked quite well and I've had that setup now for the last 2-3yrs. But the main downside is every time I move around or lean back it makes a creaking type / crunch noise from the base of the seat where it mounts. I think it's just a crappy base, but then my office chair as work also creaks when I lean back. That kind of thing irritates me :mad::mad::p

I'm looking probably either the Vertagear SL2000 or a Noblechair EPIC but wondered if these purpose made "gaming chairs" would make similar kind of noises/creaks? Of course I hope they would be quiet.

Also is it possible not remove the arms (or not fit them at all) as I much prefer no arms so it will go under my desk?

And the wheels, is it possible to lock them in position?

Thanks for any guidance. It's a lot of dosh to blow on a seat so want to get it right. Sadly the shop is miles away or I'd like to try first myself obviously ;)

I've had the SL2000 since February and can confirm it makes a little bit of creaking & crunching noises every now and then... I oil the joints from time to time to reduce the creaking from happening but haven't found an effective way to prevent the crunching noises, those mostly happen if I lean to the side when reaching to pick something up.

The wheels don't lock, but the chair frame is so heavy and I have a carpeted room so I've got to put a fair bit of effort into moving my chair.

I'm fairly certain you can remove the arms on the SL2000, I shall have a quick experiment when I get home this evening for you. :)

I'm currently sat on the noblechairs EPIC PU, I can confirm there is minimal noise from the chair in general. You may get the odd creak but it's generally quiet whilst in use. Arms are removable, wheels are not lockable but it's a standard office wheel fit so you could buy some lockable castors if you wanted this function (we have a lot of Vertagear branded ones landing next month that will be compatible)

Thank you for checking mate, much appreciated.

Going to think it over. The creaking noise is my biggest annoyance with what I have made myself. Got a feeling all the bases make some sort of noise because of all the adjustments. It's just when I lean over or get up it's quite loud lol.

I can easy change the casters over so no probs there. Suppose I could order one and see how it goes, just a hassle if I don't get on with it and want to return etc.
