Challenge - enhance my system for £225!

Not sure what you mean. If youmean Add vist and ram then yes 4gb is a must. If you stick with XP then it will recognise around 3.7gb of ram so 4gb will still be a useful upgrade.

I certainly noticed it.

As for the operating system you won't notice that much 'real' improvement. Vista is lovely to use and looks fancy but TBH i'd have no problems sticking with XP. In fact i only have vista as my workplaces site license covers home use.

P.S: I still think the monitor, gpu and ram upgrade would be the most noticeable.

Thanks GT - I (mistakenly) thought that XP would never use more than 2gb of RAM.

As for the overall upgrade, I don't know if my funds could stretch to screen, GPU and RAM. I know I could sell current stuff, but wouldn't that mean i'd still be scraping around for "budget" gear to replace it? I'm thinking of the screen, here, especially....

If you can sell your ram, monitor and current gpu you'd almost certainly have enough for the kit i listed in my first post.

It's all quality gear but i will admit that the monitor isn't a 'big' well known make. It is however a highly rated unit and most imporantly still comes with the standard 3 year warranty.

The ram has a lifetime warranty and the BFG GPU has 10 years (despite being listed as having a lifetime warranty - believe that only relates to the US market)
