hi,

need a spec £300 max £350

need everything including monitor, keyboard, mouse, and if you can headphone, but not necessarily

i know the budget becomes tight with a monitor
no way of getting more money
thx

Yo,

Would you be willing to go used? That's a very tight budget. What will the PC be used for? I assume you require operating system?

Would you be willing to go for a couple of used parts & what is the PC going to be used for?

Tbh yes I'd have to agree - see if you can nab yourself an i3 with a cheap mobo, 8GB RAM and something like a radeon HD 7850 of online auction sites, then case/PSU/etc can I guess be new but on the budget end of things

Impossible! I tried, I failed!

Cheapest 1080p monitor
Cheapest APU worth buying. You really wont be playing many games at all!
Cheapest 8GB RAM
Cheapest SSD. Could drop to a 30GB SSD, but would only save £17, plus would be useless.
Cheap & cheerful keyboard, mouse, and case.
Almost the cheapest PSU, could save a few £ perhaps

YOUR BASKET
1 x Asus VS228DE 22" Widescreen LED Monitor - Black £79.99
1 x AMD A8-6600K 3.90GHz (Socket FM2) APU Richland Quad Core Processor (AD660KWOHLBOX) £73.99
1 x TeamGroup Vulcan RED 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 PC3-19200C11 2400MHz Dual Channel Kit (TLRED38G2400HC11CDC01) £50.99
1 x Kingston 120GB SSDNow V300 Drive SATA 6Gb/s 3 2.5" (7mm height) Solid State Hard Drive - (SV300S37A/120G) £46.99
1 x Gigabyte F2A88XM-DS2 AMD A88X (Socket FM2+) DDR3 Micro ATX Motherboard £43.99
1 x Antec VP450P 450W 85% Efficient Continuous Power Supply £32.99
1 x Aerocool Qs-180 Micro-ATX Chassis - Black £22.99
1 x OcUK Compact Wireless Desktop Set (6309ARF) £19.99
Total : £386.03 (includes shipping : £11.75).

FX 4xxx = £40 used - £60 new
2x4GB RAM = £50 new
Motherboard = £40 new
1 TB HDD = £40 new
HD 7850 2GB = £50 used
Decent 500w PSU = £40 new
Case = £20 new/maybe get a free one from someone?

Monitor 24in 1080p = £80
Cheap keyboard/mouse combo = £20
Headphones = £20
Mousemat = £5

Looking at it £400 would be the minimum imo, might be able to get cheaper getting more stuff used though.

If it will help and if you do decide to go the AMD FX route, i have one unused AMD FX-4130 CPU that you can have for nothing. I'll send it to you for free.

It's not a great cpu though.

Has not got a heatsink+fan, i used that on something else, you can get a better one for about £15.

I am not trying to lock you into an AMD route but the offer stands if you want it.

p.s. agree with Shivy011 on the sorts of used parts to go for.

I don't think what you're asking for is possible for under £300 unless you're willing to buy mostly second hand parts. I'd like to be proved wrong though. I personally have no problem buying used parts. If a couple more B grade items could be sourced for Bickaxe's build above though, then that might just do it...

There is a WD 640GB SATA III in the clearance section for £30. Saves £7.

Could also get the Antec VP450P 450W PSU for £33 (only for this week though). Saves another £4.

£323 now down to £312.....

Ok just a thought here, could you drop the ram to 4GB? Would you want to?

Kingston HyperX Fury Black 4GB (1x4GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C10 1600MHz Single Channel Kit £30 http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MY-166-KS&groupid=701&catid=8&subcat=1180

That would save an additional £20.

I don't think that saving would be worth the performance drop but i can't see another way to do it for under £300 all in.

Then again it would free up £8 for a cheap headset.

Thx guys
I know it's pretty difficult to have it under £300
I tried to convince him to raise its budget to £400 or go used and I am waiting for his replies

Edit

Forgot to mention that this is not for me....

I would suggest you tell him to wait an extra month for the next payday and add a couple of extra £££ to that budget... imo anything you get for £300 isn't going to be suitable for any game other than solitaire... :( sorry dude

Just for the hell of it, i priced up a PC system using that CPU i have.

Except for the B Grade Monitor, all are brand new parts that are currently in stock here. It came to £353 excl. delivery!

It includes a Stock AMD cooler, MSI 970A-G43 Motherboard, Telecaster's KB+Mouse combo and the cheapest headset in stock (it's £20! no cheaper ones in stock!).

Also a £66 GPU, the Sapphire R7 250X 1GB and a good Seagate 500GB HDD.

He needs at least £400 to more than likely £450. Otherwise you might suddenly have one very disappointed ex-friend.
