Champ Manager 2006 - Good? PC

Hey guys

I was thinking of buying this game for my PC, but i wanna know if its worth buying, i dont like reading reviews, they are too long and boring lol.

So, what do you guys think? Is it worth buying?

lol.. i think you should read reviews.. gives you an honest heads up really.. i mean you dont want to waste your money.

but i cant see nothing wrong with champ man 2006... just like them all really.. but with todays players and a few extra options.

i got football manager 2006 and its good. ill probably get football manager 2007 next year :p.. some reason im not keen on champ manager series... but it will just be matter of opinion overall

you cant go wrong though if you like football.. and football games
 
Well, I dunno if you know all this so I'll give you the basics.

Over the past million years, Championship Manager was the BEST football manager game around. Nothing else came close.

However, the publisher (EIDOS) and the programmers (Sports Interactive) split up in about 2004-2005. The split saw EIDOS keep the Championship Manager name and Sports Interactive the coding.

Sports Interactive then went on to produce Football Manager 2005 and 2006. This means that Football Manager is made by the people that made the classic Championship Managers, and the current Championship Manager is only related to the classic versions by name.

So, if you want to buy a very good football manager game, make sure its Football Manager 2006.

If you want to buy a very good football manager NAME, make it Championship Manager 2006.

I wonder how many people went and bought Championship Manager instead of Football Manager, not realising the split...
 
Football manager is done by SI games. iirc Eidos owns the 'championship manager' title so Si had to come up with something new. So if you played the pre 05 CM's and enjoyed them and want to go with the older school stuff then SI it is.

Strangely though I haven't found Football Manager as addictive as all the pre split Champ Managers. Mind you the ones i've played have been superior imo to the new CHampionship Managers.
 
champ man 2006 is one of the worst games I have ever played it looks like something that would have been out on the Amiga years ago. I cant descibe how bad it is buy football manager its the real deal!
 
Championship manager 4 was the last good game in the series, after that the team that had always developed the game "siGames" fell out with the publishers and setup on their own to make Football Manager 2005.

Since then the original publishers of the Champ Man series have been trying to make a good game to compete against it with no success.

Football Manager 2006 is far superior. GET THAT ONE. ;)

Absolutely correct. A mate introduced me to FM05 last year and I got hooked. I had heard about the Champ Man series but never thought I'd enjoy it; how wrong I was. I then tried the Champ Man 05 demo to see what Eidos had come up with since the split. It was awful.

When FM06 came out, I got that and loved it. So naturally I tried the Champ Man 06 demo when that came out a few weeks ago expecting it to be better than the 05 game. How wrong I was. It was still awful. The only decent thing was that Man Utd were given £65m in transfer funds; gives me a good excuse to edit the FM06 database next time I start a new game.;)

So in short, stick with the SI Games offering. Can't wait for FM07.

Do it! You won't regret it. Obviously don't say where you are getting it from; wouldn't want to see you off on an enforced holiday.:p

Make sure you get the 6.0.3 patch from SIGames.com and keep an eye for info on FM07.:D

Hmm 07 if thats out soon may get that instead, if the specs are to high for my laptop i will run it on my desktop. :) Do you know when its out?

As moody says around September or October. SI are now having to program the FM series for the PC, Mac, PSP and the XBox 360 so it is possible this could slow them down but SI are quite a small company and depend on the revenue that the FM series brings in and so will do their best to release the game in the September/October part of the year.
 
Quick fm2006 review: no graphics, numbers, little players on pitch cool, omg addicted argh where has my life gone!!?? 8.5/10.
