Champagne?

bought a sample bottle of Heidsieck Monopole Blue top, just looked and it has the code NM under the Alcohol by volume(12%), not tried it yet though, may do later. Full size bottle was about £20-£21.

So anyway, the general consensus would be to buy either veuve clicquot, bollinger or lanson black then.

Looked at tescos' own champagne, but under the description it gave, it was quite citrus(y). I'd also be a bit wary of serving 'shops own' to guests too, they may think we were cheapskates hehe.

How does the OP know it will be a son?

What if it's a Jamie Lee Curtis?

LMAO, i know he's a boy because of.....

(we were told at the scan and you can just see his tinker :D)

Veuve (the vintage is worth the small premium imo)

Bollinger

Piper champage is also quite nice IMO, and if I was after a cheaper bottle that is exactly what I would get.

Dislike Moet, Nicolas and Mumm. Dont mind Lanson but would prefer the three I listed above :)

Nyetimber, whilst technically not a champagne as it's produced in England, is superior to a lot of the real champagne and comes highly recommended by a lot of wine taster.

Just another option for you :)

Jamie Lee had a tinker too (allegedly) at birth.

A little bit of both, if you will.

haha we have one of those on the way..

Note the name in the bottom right... wasn't that what got your gf/wife in that state in the first place :D lol

I've just had a small glass of the Heidsieck Monopole Blue top i bought, am not that impressed, it's a bit too citrussy and harsh tasting for my liking.

Not a fan of Moet at all, Bolly, Veuve & Mumm are much more quaffable IMO.

PS - Congrats :)

im not a wine fan as it all tastes the same to me. if i have to buy a bottle of wine for someone i go for the best looking label. seems to work as everyone says i pick good wine :D

Veuve Clicquot every time for me, by far the best unless you start spending stupid money and even then it's hard to beat. Cristal? - honestly I would rather have the Veuve.

Roederer, Bolly or Veuve at that price point. You could also try Camel Valley English sparkling wine, it's every bit as good as most Champagne.

We usually go for Bolly on special occasions. I can't recall which is which by name but the £40 bottles are DEFINATELY more drinkable than the £20 bottles.
Having said that you can get a pretty nice Moet Chandon for about £25.
And having said that I'm having a bottle of Banrock Station sparkling chardonnay which is about £5-£8 tonight to wet the babies head, will sort something more fitting at the weekend.
