Champions League Draw - Group Stages

Good group for us I think, not too much travelling and shouldn't be too bad at all. Valencia are obviously the toughest test but we should be expecting to win home and away even against them.

Group A: Inter Milan, Werder Bremen, TOTTENHAM, FC Twente
Group B: Lyon, Benfica, Schalke, Hapoel Tel Aviv
Group C: MANCHESTER UNITED, Valencia, RANGERS, Bursaspor.
Group D: FC Barcelona, Panathinaikos, FC Copenhagen, Rubin Kazan
Group E: Bayern Munich, AS Roma, FC Basel, CFR Cluj
Group F: CHELSEA, Marseille, Spartak Moscow, MSK Zilina
Group G: AC Milan, Real Madrid, Ajax, Auxerre
Group H: ARSENAL, Shakhtar Donetsk, SC Braga, Partizan Belgrade

Arsenal probably have the easiest group, partizan I assume if Twente went in the Spurs group, though its not updated to that point for me.

Barca have a tough group but, was it Rubin Kazan who beat and drew with Barca last time out, and Panathinaikos are a tough team to beat away, Barca last season were worse than anytime I've seen them in the past 5 years away from home in Europe and its where they lost points in the league. Same with the supercup, thrashed Sevilla at home, got semi spanked in the away leg though.

Chelsea, should be fine, one crap team, one potentially tough away team(moscow) and Marseille can play really well on their day, shouldn't be too much trouble.

Utd's group is easy aswell, two easy teams and one half decent team, even if they lost the Valencia games, come on, they'll thrash the other two.

Spurs have the toughest group and could quite easily lose the group, I can see them being 3rd and moving into Europa though and meh, might honestly have a chance at winning the Europa Cup.

Anyone know why when some of the last teams were drawn they were saying "only one group they can go into" when there were two groups left?

I did forget actually, Inter without an incredibly strict and disciplined, very tactical Mourinho behind them, and with a bit of a pratt in Benitez, they likely won't play nearly as defensively and in doing so won't be anywhere near as tight at the back and really with Balotelli gone and without the same style of play, they could be a far far less good team this year as everyone adapts to playing a completely different style of football.

Inter might actually be very vunerable this year, Werder can really play very well given the chance and Twente are a really very good team at the moment, Spurs could sneak through based on the group being very tight with lots of unexpected results......... hmm.

No idea why anyone is saying Rangers aren't to be taken lightly, Rangers/Celtic simply aren't good in the champs league, at home they aren't that good and away they get spanked almost every year by almost anyone.

I actually think if Spurs play well they can finish 2nd without too much trouble. They certainly are capable.

Will be an interesting watch :D

I could see Spurs sneaking through as well, as DM said, Inter could be a very different side under Rafe.

Ok ok drunkenmaster I can understand your opinion on this but Rangers can prove to be quite obstacle with our "Anti-Football" :p

Sure we got hammered at Home last season but it was dissapointing for all involved and I suspect our team will manage to do a lot better especially at home this season.

We did much better playing 4-5-1 away from home compared to when we opened up at home and it went against us.

I'm not for a minute suggesting that we will take results away to any of the teams in our section but we have a solid spine to our team and I believe we will do a lot better this season than we did last year.

Some strengthening up front with Nicika Jelavic coming in (hopefully Villa put Austria Wien out so we can play him) with James Beattie. And also we look to be playing some true wingers this season with young Vladimir Weiss coming in too. Hopefully a bit more strengthening to come but a very solid unit and we will have Bougherra for the full campaign instead of an untried 17/18 year old in defence.

I for one look forward to these games this year and really can't wait for the first game at Ibrox :D I think it will be matchday 2 against Man Utd :D Should be a cracker, and should be a full house!

I'm sure my CL package will cost just over £100 now :p

Relatively satisfied with that draw for Arsenal, though it is a lot of travelling. Donetsk away will be very tough, but I think Braga's attacking style will suit us, and Partizan are real unknowns.

Tottenham not getting drawn in the group with AC Milan & Real Madrid is devastating!! :D
Good draw for them considering they were in pot 3, Werder Bremen are beatable.

United and Chelsea have walkovers :p
