I was originally running a 5850. I have temporarily replaced it with a an ATI 4300 card (long story). I didn't uninstall the 5850 drivers when I installed the 4300, I just switched the hardware.

After booting up, and doing a couple of restarts whilst windows installed the 4300 drivers.. I seem to be having problems. After booting, everything will work fine for a bit, but then after a few minutes if I click on something (e.g if I click start, computer) I get a screen like this:

The only way to fix it is to do a hard reset. When I boot back into windows, after a few minutes this happens again. I have now manually uninstalled the drivers, and manually installed them from the ATI website. Rebooted, but same thing happens, I get that grey screen after a few minutes. How can I fix this?

thanks

I think it could be because of my old 5850 overclock. Before it crashes, I can get into CCC. Apparently the 4300 is running at 765mhz lol.. I guess i forgot to remove the overclock before I changed GPU's. Whenver I change to defaults and press okay though, I get a black screen again :S

Can u not get into safe mode and remove ATI drivers or what ever app u used to OC yo old card then start windows up and install drivers.

That should remove the OC.
