Hi everyone,

Wonder if anyone can offer any advice.

I have a Asus A520M-A motherboard with a Ryzen 5 3600 CPU.
RAM is Vengeance DDR4 3600
GPU is an RTX 3080

Like an idiot I decided to try changing the memory timings, clearly did something wrong and now I can't get an image on the PC.

I have done the following:

Cleared CMOS
Removed battery...waited and then cleared CMOS.
Removed battery...waited, fitted a switch and then cleared CMOS
Removed one stick of RAM, removed both sticks of RAM
Tried booting with no CMOS battery

I have fitted a mini speaker to the board and the odd thing is now the single speaker beeps which to me would signal a post, but no image.
I would try onboard graphics and bypass the GPU but the Ryzen 3600 doesn't have any.

Any ideas would be hugely appreciated! I may have bricked the board, but hopefully not.

Does anyone know if it's possible to update the board https://www.asus.com/motherboards-components/motherboards/prime/prime-a520m-a/ with a new BIOS straight from USB?

Many thanks

Adam

Hi,

I sadly don't have a jumper, so I fitted a power switch which was across the two pins.

I disconnected the power last night and then retried this morning. I originally tried resetting the CMOS by bridging the two with a screwdriver, but that didn't work so tried the switch.

The board is actually this one, sorry wrong link earlier https://www.asus.com/motherboards-components/motherboards/prime/prime-a520m-k/

Just to add the two pins I am bridging are labelled CLRTC.
You mite as well try again. Bridge the pins with a screwdriver just in case the switch doesn't work.

Turn off pc disconnect power from wall,
Take out cmos battery then Bridge the ctrl jumper with a screwdriver leaving in postion for 15 mins if pos.

Then return everything to normal.

One thing you do not appear to have done is test or replace the CMOS battery. Your motherboard is pretty new so it shouldn't be an issue, but it's still worth testing.

That board does not appear to support CPU-less flashing.

Struggling for ideas here also but did you put the CMOS battery back in the correct way up?

I would also wonder if the default bios settings would be trying to boot with a graphics card in a different slot or trying to default to onboard graphics but since you don't have any you don't get a picture.

The board only has the one pcie16x slot and it's the first slot so I'd imagine that'd be the default.

Edit: Also perhaps see if you can ping the computer from another PC on your network if you have one? That will tell you if it's getting to windows.

Edit2: All display cables and power cables still snug on the GPU? Perhaps you dislodged one while you were inside the case?

Hi everyone,

Good news I managed to get the PC to post last night

Thank you all for advice.
Bad news it was the GPU! Been a troublesome card since I have had it.

Does anyone have a recommendation for a GPU repair place?

Sadly I bought it second hand, so no warranty. I have already had it repaired one, the memory modules seem so unstable on it! Previous owner clearly dropped it and been a pain in the bum since.
