Changing address - Who *needs* to know?

HMRC is the one I always forget to tell, although 8 addresses in 6 years, I'm getting pretty good at moving!

Driving license and car are pretty easy ones, I sent them off in the same envelope. HMRC you can change by filling in an online form which I like. O2 I did through their website...cant think of any others really. Oh Halifax I had to ring up, cant do it online, but for my halifax sharedealing account I used their online chat system. More companies should impliment them, I like them!

Well....Mobile, driving license, insurance all done now :p Bank was done a while ago...

regarding the driving license...I need to send JUST the photocard away or the paper part as well?

My insurance only went up £14 as well which is a bonus! :)

I'm a bit baffled as to why you'd need to tell HMRC, unless you're self employed...

It is odd...considering you tell PAYE etc for work purposes.

Change of address or other contact details

If you change address you need to let HMRC know, even if you pay some or all of your National Insurance contributions through PAYE (Pay As You Earn) and have already told your employer.

Thanks for all of the helpful replies.

I'm currently trying to find out if I need to change my address on my passport. I cannot find anything on the DirectGov website and a few web forums (from Google searches) seem to suggest it is not necessary. Can anybody confirm if this is the case? If I do need to alter the address can you advise who I contact and how.

Thank you.

EDIT: Just rang Identity & Passport Services (IPS) who confirmed change of address is not necessary for passport.

check you can get into a dentist where you're moving to, if you can't get in don't let your old place know you're moving, then at least you can travel back and get appointments if you need to
