Spend a few quid and get yourself a "Haynes or Autodata" manual and have a little read through if you want to attempt "simple" jobs. it will give you diagrams and info to point you in the right direction. Otherwise just have it serviced in accordance with the service book.

It's true, also consider running a high grade extra virgin olive oil, reduces friction and increases power due to its viscosity.
I'm very much in favour of people learning the basics. Agreed with a newish Q&A you still need to get it serviced at a main dealer to keep its value. But by all means learn the basics yourself as well. The oil filer is usually near the bottom of the engine and the air filler is generally at the to and on the left our right hand side. Obviously each car will be different though.
