Hi, is it possible to transfer acengy for a job?

Basically after a number of phonecalls i'm appauled by their attitude on the phone!

You'll have to explain your situation a bit better.

Are you in the job now and being employed by the agency or have they approached you/you appliend for job though them?

The only way I can see is if you talk to the potential employer and tell them your concerns but I can't see you getting much in the way of thanks from them.

Sorry, i'm already being employed by them but they don't get anything right, then brush their fustrations on to me.

I was hoping I could ring the other ancency up (who employ over half the staff) and get them to take me.. if that was possible.

You won't be able to keep the same job (if you on a long term contract or placement) however you are free to sign up with as many agencies as you like.

And what MB said.

It's extremely unlikely that any agency would allow you to transfer their contract - after all, you are earning for them too.

What's an angency, ancency or an acengy? :D ;)

It's hardly worth the hassle in moving agencies just because someone is having 'an attitude' on the phone.

Well I havn't signed a contract of any sorts tieing me down to them or the job. I took the tests with that agency though.

Borris - It's 2pm on Monday, isn't there something you should be doing?

Ha- it's not just the hassle on the phone (i'd be happy with just that) It's them never sending me timesheets as promised (so i don't get paid) So I have to ring them up every week and get it faxed through to mine (due to their stupid timesheet system my employer can't keep 'generic' copies)

Just this morning I rung them up to ask for my timesheet, gave them my fax number (which is my house number), 30mins later.. nothing. So I ask them again, she asks me the number again and says "that's a totally different number you gave me last time" then put's the phone down. errr yeah I go around telling agencies my house number wrongly so I won't get paid.

HELP US BY TAKING THE TIME TO EXPLAIN THE SITUATION PROPERLY! Please, its hard to give advice when you have very little information. From what I have I have given you the best advice I can, take the time to explain and I will try and reciprocate. I used to work for a temp agancy and a perm agency so I probably know the answer

It's happened at our place after someone lodged an official complaint with one of the agency personnel.

Best way to find out is to ask though. What agencys is it that are involved btw?

Do they pay you? If they do, there is course of dealings, meaning that a paper contract is not strictly necessary.

Ok, the agency is Reed, probably quite commonly known.

The work is temp but the work is probably there as long as I need it, as the labour turnover is quite high as it's a common student job, plus they are flexible.

I don't know what else i'm supposed to explain, I tend to stay away from them when I can sort it out with the employer as they are much better at handling it. Oh for some reason they pay 5.50 when all the others pay 6.00p/h but that never bothered me.

Geeeeze why didn't you just say that!!! Thanks :D

Oh and yeah they pay me, that and the timesheets are the only real liaison I have with them.

As I said earlier, you can leave but its almost definately the case that Reed have the contract to supply this employer and unless you can find another temp agency which is supplying workers for the same job you will lose the job if you change agency.

I think that is exactly what the situation is, there is another agency placing workers there and he would prefer to be employed by them.

Speak to the agency that you wish to transfer to and see what they say!

Who is it by the way? I experienced the employment agencies of Sheffield a couple of summers back. Manpower were ok, but only if you wanted to be a postie or a telemarketer, Brook Street were very friendly and efficient and seemed to have a good range of jobs on offer.

I heard good things about Kelly Services, but didn't experience them myself.

I'd be careful about that, if it is the case they almost certainly have a clause built into their contracts to make it hard to do this. Otherwise people would be doing it all the time, especially as you have said there is a disparity between the amounts the agancies pay. (Despite the fact restrictive contracts are tough to impose)

Kelly Services are the worst

I had a dispute with my employer whilst working on behalf of Kellys
and because Kellys get paid a fair ammount by this multi national company
they were unwilling to stand up for myself and other employees

After i left said company i was told by Kellys they would no longer help
me in finding another vacancy, for the "trouble i had caused between Kellys
and said national company"

But saying that they are all as bas as one another

Kellys/Extra Personnel/Pertemps/Manpower

Your a bonus at the end of the day so they tell you all sorts of **** to get you
working for them

Yeah I might have a word with the other agency(s) Both Huntress and Manpower offer the £6 iirc it's only Reed that offer the lower wage.. again I don't know why but that isn't my real concern. If they got my timesheets to me, correctly dated and on time (they have 4days of the week to get it to me) I'd be happy, as the job is easy, flexible and laid back. That's just not the case though.

All the other agencies timesheets are readily available at the place of employment as well which is very convienient and I wouldn't have to communicate with the agency at all. They would simply send off the timesheet and i'd be paid... which would be nice.

The other week I had a backlog of 3 weeks payment because Reed couldn't get their act together.

Reed have an internet timesheet for temps, goto thier website and click on reed temp zone or somthing, you should be able to sign-up with your payroll number that you get with the pay-slips.
