Has anybody actually done this?

I've broken my phone screen (functions fine but spiderwebbed glass) and looked into getting a replacement screen, which actually works out surprisingly cheap (about £35). However, the process for changing the screens over looks absolutely terrifying. Has anybody tried (and succeeded) in doing this and can they advise how hard it was?

Im sure many shops will do it if you dont have much confidence in yourself. Could always watch some youtube vids to see if its a hard task...

Changed them twice now, quite a job compared to the old iPhone 3G/s screens but possible if you are patient and don't have the motor controls of a cave man

Changed 2 of them, my advice is, make sure you take not of how tight the screws are when you take them out as the posts are only clued onto the logic board in some cases.

Be careful when taking the screen off, the home button can become stuck in the screen and the cable from the home button can tear very easily (done this :p)

The screen is held on with some quite sticky adhesive so it does take a bit of force to remove, hence me not noticing the home button being stuck.

If your screen does not come with the grille on the earpiece, dont forget to swap it over from your smashed screen (tiny tiny spot of superglue holds it on well), youll have to pull the whole thing apart again to put it on (also done this :o )

Time-wise, it took me around an hour both times.
Difficulty rating, not massively difficult, just make sure you have magnetic screwdrivers and draw out a screw map.

it can be quite fiddly, but you save £50 :D
