changing cards driver help

Hey,

Tomorrow i have to RMA my Asus EAH4850, and i'm borrowing and Nvidia 8 Series from a freind until i get it back or whatever

so i wondered do i need to delete the 4850 drivers or can i leave them on my comp and just install the 8 series drivers aswell ?

if i need to uninstall the 4850 drivers how would i do properly go into video settings and uninstall from there ?

you will need to uninstall your ATI drivers first via add/remove programs, but you don't need to get rid of the downloaded exe

I reckon you could shutdown your pc, swap cards, boot up then just install the latest nvidia drivers with no problem. It shouldn't interfere with the ATI ones.

You may find someone on here with working knowledge of this procedure to tell you for sure, perhaps AMG was talking from experience?

yes it can, even old drivers can interfer.

I even had that problem, and I ve seen many people complin that thier new ATI or new Nvida isnt performing properly cos their is still some of thier old drivers left over.

I would unistall ATI onces and use driver sweeper, do the same in safe mode than install the Nvida drivers should have very little problems than. Do the same when your ATI card gets back to the Nvida drivers it takes alittle longer but you shouldn't get any problems than

That's worth knowing as I may be doing a similar exercise soon if I get the 4890 that I'm trying desperately not to buy! Always been an nvidia man so finding it hard to move over, however there seems to be too many arguments in ATI's favour at the moment when it comes to bang for buck ratios!

well i don't use "clean" install anymore for upgrading my CCC unless its a big jump say from 8-10 to 9-5 or something than I would, or I m changing card from ATI to Nvida or vcia versa than I would than too

you would be suprsied whats left over, I even looked myself after I unistalled CCC and everything else
