changing cdrw to dvdrw

sonds like nnob questions coz it is
anyway is it just a case of a staright swap from cd rw and dvd rw any thing i need to change or update after i have done it

Nope, should be a straight swap. Windows (XP?) should discover the change and you'll not have to do anything other than perhaps restart (unlikely). Ensure the jumpers on the drive are set to cable select for ease of use (look at the sticker on the drive for advice).

The only thing you'll need to check from a hardware side is that the master / slave jumper configuration on the new drive matches that of the drive being removed, ie if your CDRW is set as the slave then the DVDRW need to be slave too.

From a software side you may need to update your burning software so that it recognises the new drive and its capabilities.
