Changing Discs and pads!

Depends how far the piston has come out.
On a Micra I did a few months back the pads were so low pushing the pistons back in caused the resivoir to overflow (where it had been topped up previously too)!
Jez is correct, no bleeding required. Although it only takes 15mins to do all 4 wheels so maybe worth it if it's never been done.

Shouldnt have to do either, just carefully push the piston back into the caliper.
I use a G clamp and a couple of bits of wood to protect the caliper, then just wind it in.

Yeah, basically just undo the cap off the resevoir, squeeze in the pistons with a g clamp , fit your pads and disks and away you go, u can get away with it but really if fluid is going into the resevoir then you build up pressure, i guess its just easier not to have that pressure.
Ignition off, all the ignition does is make a vacuum in your servo making the brake assisted, you dont need brake assistance for changing pads

Thanks guys, I just though i was going totally bonkers!
The pedal had no feel in it even after pumping for ages! it was spongy, usually i religiously unscrew the cap a few turns just in case, but obvioulsy not religiously enough!
Sorted now though, gave them a quick bleed and they were fine.
