Im curious if anyone else is thinking of changing ecosystems?

2 weeks ago I was a happy android user eagerly awaiting the next google nexus phone for my upgrade and now that has all changed and Im switching ecosystems.

I installed Win 8, and despite the initial confusion/frustration with Metro, after researching it a bit, found that not only is it very customisable and quite powerful, but I actually liked it! If you add in office 2013, Im thinking that I really like Microsofts approach to the cloud and the way it has been integrated into their future lineup, so much so, that Im moving to WP8 :eek:

Im no android hater, I like it, but although google offer so many services, they aren't actually very well integrated, though I think in a year or two they might be. GDrive and Docs are still poor at the moment, and maps, although setting the standard isn't very integrated to Calendar or goggles etc

Im still quite surpised to be honest as it was never something I took seriously before, but Im really liking the idea of the whole seamless transfer between my PC and mobile devices (especially as I plan to get a surface) and after the nokia presentation, I want a WP8 phone. It might be Nokia (95% likely), or maybe a HTC, but Im quite excited about the possibilities and was wondering if anyone else thought the same way.

<gets ready for the haters>
:p

Yup, I do. My Samsung GS2 contract runs out in a couple of months, and I'll most likely be getting a Nokia 920. Also had my Asus Transformer tab for nearly a year and a half and will also prob get a Surface, along with the upgrade to Win8 when its released. Looking forward to all the new toys! :D

I have all 3 major OSes on the go but alas, your points are covered by the existence of dropbox & polaris really. I wouldn't try any OS blind though, going through metro as a UI interface is a lot slower than Android / iOS for example and it drives me nuts no matter how pretty (or oversized) they make it.

It's only really a problem if you've purchased a lot off stuff.

Most apps are free andersen paid ones are cheap, mp3 is transferable.
The biggest problem is if you've purchased a lot of films say on iTunes. Then you're very much stuck.

I've already started switching, just got a Windows 7.5 phone which will be upgraded to wp8 in January. SkyDrive is in my opinion better than Google Drive or iCloud. I'm sticking with Gmail though but since its supported in windows its not an issue.

Does anyone know what's going to be replacing Zune for wp8?

What!?!

I have a WP7 device as my personal phone, and have to use Android and iOS devices every day due to my job. The quickest interface to use is the one you are most familiar with, all the interfaces are so similar in speed it makes next to no difference.

Nokia offer some software to move over contacts and such but apart from that you should just check if the apps you need are on wP7.5/8 and if you can sync whatever libaries you have. Apart from that I woudl say your set, however I personally love google docs and it works pretty well.
