Changing from VM to BT

Hi just need a little help to make sure I have made the correct decision.

VM 300Mb connection contract finished.

Used Quidco to get £110 Cashback for BT Fibre. They have quoted Min speeds to be 50Mb and between 60Mb.

All for £29.99 with an £110 gift card.

Now we use Netflix 4k, have X2 tablets that use YouTube, Amazon Prime & Netflix. PS4 Pro and an 4K TV with is used a lot for YouTube viewing.

VM said we use 700GB per month I really cannot it been that much?

Anyway enough of the ramblings, will 50Mb be enough and be noticeable? I may cancel the order as I am worrying it's a massive drop in speed.

How many of those things do you do simultaneously? That will determine whether it’ll be an issue for you because 50Mbps is more than plenty for any of those on their own, 2x simultaneous Netflix UHD streams or any combination of some of the other activities. 700Gb per month is fairly easy to achieve these days. I just checked on my Plusnet usage and this week alone it is over 800Gb.

Usually 4k Netflix and YouTube maybe occasionally the PS4 on at the same time.

So 50Mb will be good for 2 4k devices playing at the same time?

Sanity check: Some of us do 700GB in a day, I can hit almost 1TB combined daily (80/20 combining upload and download figures).

In terms of speed, will you notice? Well that’s debatable, a 20mbit stream from wherever you get your media will still be a 20mbit stream even if you had a 10Gb connection, the initial buffering may be fractionally slower on BT (though BT tends to have lower latency), but you are unlikely to notice much one way or the other. What you may find is large downloads (eg PS4 games) may take noticeably longer along with simultaneous downloads, that said who sits and watches the download bar? This isn’t the 90’s.
