Changing gmail name

so i want to change my gmail user name,

ie [email protected]
to [email protected]

is there a way to do this but stiill keep all apps and settings etc etc that google ahs on me, and eveyrthing else about the acocunt remains the same?

Nope no way to do this, you can register the other address and link it to the same account, but you cant change your exiting name

Pretty much this. You can set the old one to forward to your new one, but there's pretty much nothing else you can do.

you have to have a brand new address. cannot move from one mail to another unless you use forwarders etc

It's mad that Google hasn't sorted this yet, is not exactly uncommon.

Even Hotmail allows it!
