Thinking of upgrading the HDD in my Humax freeview recorder
Would having more cache on the HDD be of any benefit in this situation?
Going to be a 1 TB ,i think existing hdd is a 500GB with 64 MB cache
or would one of those surveillance hdds be a better option?

I too have this question. Only today have I ordered and cancelled a WD av-25. Didn't realise it was EOL...and a few reviews say it's awful.

Interestingly WD don't seem to do a surveillance 2.5" anymore.

So far I've learned 5k speed is better as it's quieter. Surveillance are good because they better support multiple streams in and out.

I need 2.5" for my gigablue pvr.

Very interested to see what peeps suggest.

I'll likely go for a run of the mill Seagate.

I doubt cache would make any material difference...it's a PVR after all. If you were taking 16 streams into the disk that might be a different matter..
