Changing Icons

How do i change icons with out any 3rd party software (like StarDock).

I have changed My Computer/My Documents/Recycle Bin - there were easy enough but i also have icons i would like to use for Folders (I know you can right click > customize) but this only changed that certain folder, i would like to change all of them, i also have icons for my disk drives.

Any help appreciated. Cheers.

I have vista icons and theme, I use Icontweaker its great too

Edit: I don't think you can without software

I would use Star Dock - but it gave me major problems last time so i tend to steer way clear of them.
