First off im very sorry this is going to be a lame question but im really curious.

As most of you know macs can change their backgrounds every few mins or so from a desired folder.

Is there any way that you can get it to link to an online wallpaper library for National Geographic photo's? (for example)

Thanks, Luke

(Sry its lame :P hehe)

To do a wallpaper rotation you need to direct it to a directory containing the images to use. I suppose it might be possible to map national geographic asa network place and use that web directory as the storage place for the images. I haven't a clue how you would do this. You'd be better off if you downloaded a bunch of them and stored them locally.

I have an idea on this using applescript to get the images from an http dir. I'll post back when I figure it out

Ok here we go.

Download this file and open it with Automator (only avail in tiger!) Make sure its extension is .wflow

file

Have a look see at it and the actions in there. This downloads the image displayed on NASA's astronomy picture of the day site to the folder 'apod' in user/pictures/.

You can save it out of automator as a little application, automator doc or a plugin!!! If you want to have it change the desktop background everyday just save it as an ical alarm plugin. iCal will then load and you need to make it an allday everyday event.

Thats it - you will have a new image on your desktop everyday from nasa :)
