Changing notes in Bank?

What is the max amount of notes you can change in a bank without them wanting all your personal details etc?
As cash is king when buying i am not looking to pay them into my bank account
Been saving for a new motor for a while now and prob won`t find one before the new notes come out next year ish :)
Been looking online but can`t seem to find anything relevant and Bank is not near to `just pop in and ask`

Cash paid into a bank is still cash when buying cars isn't it :confused:. You think people walk around with wads of notes to get the best car deals? Or do some dealers allow you to avoid paying VAT if you literally pay cash in hand?

Just pay the notes into the bank and then you won't have to worry about new notes etc.

Self Employed is a hassle
You have to show where EVERY single note comes from it seems,more work for my accountant means more money i have to pay her

I take out X amount every week for food etc
anything left over gets saved in a jar or converted to notes
THAT clear enough for you lot?
If you don`t know the answer to my question please do not trash the thread!
 
if you have a bank account anyway what does it matter, just go in and ask them to swap them, they have your details anyway as you have an account??? They dont need to put the money into the account, if you ask them just to swap it to new notes.

I'm not sure there will be any 'max' amount, I think you will need ID for all cash if it's a bank you don't have an account with.

You need ID for cash purchaces of foreign currency so I think a bank will also need a money trail for money laundering purposes.

Best thing if they're not nearby, phone them.
 
I am confused what you are doing, changing notes for notes, or loose change for notes?
 
As it is a few grand i want to lnow IF there is a limit on how much in one go
I don`t want to be walking around town with a lot of cash if i can help it
 
To be honest, cash is not king any more especially when buying a car, you will get more discounts/offers if you buy (from a dealer) on their very expensive finance. Then just contact the finance company within the 14 day cooling off period and pay off the amount. Discount received no interest paid ;)

Obviously not relevant if you are buying from a private seller
 
I guess it's safe to say, you would be better off asking your bank, than thinking you will get a sensible answer from anyone in here
 
What new notes? I'm not aware of new notes coming out that will make current notes obsolete and worthless?

Also, I agree you should be asking your bank. If it's a long journey then surely you own a telephone?

only new ones I have heard about is plastic 20s, inline with recent 10 and 5s, they're not due out until 2020 though according to the Bank of England website.
