I'm also replacing the banister. Which I hope is less hassle


You can buy that kit easily enough it’s relatively cheap. The cost is the templating the glass and the cutting, welding and finishing the bends in the handrail. Nice product :)
 
We got rid of ours and went for stainless steel

Is the corner post bottom fixing correct? Should it not have been a 90° fixing there instead so it all runs on the white base?

Usually there’s a double joist parallel to the stair it looks like it’s coach bolted to that. Broadly it looks fine plus the load is from the other side pushing against the wall.

Caveat should be checked by an engineer don’t claim on my professional indemnity

Was thinking more of the aesthetics than anything. It's just a shame that that bracket crosses onto the floorboards as it would have looked neater if it was angled.

I can't unsee it now!

Going for a wood effect for mine. Even though stainless looks smart. It lacks that homely feel for me. Not sure on glass or not. I'm actually thinking not.
