Changing stripe sizes...

I have an IBM xseries server all set-up but i have made a balls-up as i was rushing and set-up my drives with an 8kb stripe size.

I have now installed Windows Server 2003 and various other programs before realising my error.

The raid manager doesn't allow me to adjust stripe size within windows, I have to use the bootable version.

Now the question is will i lose my install if i change my stripe size?

I'd be pretty sure you would do because you will need to reformat, you are altering the way the data is stored at a very low level so I'd be fairly certain that you will lose your install but I'm willing to be corrected.

You could always back up the drive with something like Norton Ghost and then once you've re-striped and reformatted you can restore it back again? (Some of the older version let you do it all from DOS to solve the windows issue - not sure about the newer stuff)
