I've changed this in RegEdit so that the default directory is on my secondary HDD rather than my SSD (to save space), however when I try installing new programs, it still automatically points to the SSD. Why is this?

Thanks.

what are you trying to save space for? you really want as many programs as possible on an SSD - with the obvious exceptions of anything huge or games you don't have space for.

i wouldn't mess with regedit either. just remember to change the install location yourself during setup. and make sure you move all data such as video/music/files/video etc to your secondary drive. there really is no point to keeping any of that on an SSD.

I've almost filled it with games so thought I'd put some other, less important stuff on the HDD. I'll stick it all on the SSD then if I have room, thanks. :)

Not liking the random clicking from my HDD since changing though.

I had windows set up like that, but there were problems with a few programs. Can't remember the ones unfortunately, but I had to fix it by formatting and just manually changing the folder each time I install something. It's not been a huge inconvenience for me, I simply change from c:\program files to g:\program files. Just one letter and it saves time and compatibility issues with programs which expect things to be on the c:\
