Changing Web Hosts

Right.

My old host was pretty rubbish and about two months in I've bought new hosting while the old ones still active.

Now I assumed it would just be a case of changing the nameservers, but the old host still seems to be active.

Do I have to tell the old host to stop hosting?

I assumed the nameservers would stop it.

I can't get as far as setting up MySQL databases, cpanel is still pointing to the old host!

Usually it's a case of the DNS waiting to propagate. Using OpenDNS, you can check the cache and force a refresh.

Yup, exactly what it was. Did a "ipconfig /flushdns" and all was well.

Don't forget to cancel the account with your old host too!

I'm going to use that to host another domain pretty soon, most likely a .net domain which will redirect to the .co.uk domain.

Although I did pay yearly so the quicker I buy the domain the better, it's hosting nothing at the moment
