Changinge to Zen Fibre What Router ? 2 options

Upgraded from DSL to Fibre both on zen this week, which was an interesting experience.

reused a dlink DIR-655 i used to use with NTL cable, working fine 73Mbps down/18Mbps up.

@ Randall8686

My Plusnet FTTC was installed last February and in my own experience I had static IP Address with a one off fee of £5. In the last six months, I was watching live streaming sky go, bbc sports world snooker for 17 days, and my daughter streaming online with Netflix and also gaming online. I been using torrent too. And my Fibre speed is always 74/19 since February. There is no slow down or throttled at all. So, I pay cheaper with Plusnet than Zen because I took the phone over to Plusnet to save me a further £2.50 off for broadband (as I am on market 3) and also pay upfront line rental for a year. So, I am paying my FTTC with anytime calls every months are £17.49 plus a further discount offer for 24 months contract with a further discount with plusnet referral scheme.

I am very happy with Plusnet for 6 months.

I think u should go to Plusnet.

here is my speedtest with FTTC estimated of 77.8/19.9

Cheers mate, i assume you work for zen, im pretty much sold i think.

RDP is something im going to be using so hope
It works lol,

If you do work for zen can u confirm to me @ what point my connection leaves the BT network for yours ?

Yes, I'm one of the Network Engineers in the Design and Engineering team (these days everyone seems to have been given the title Engineer though, so I really should request a more grandiose job title to sate my ego). If you are connected to Basingstoke then the the connection will be handed over to us in the Exchange.

RDP is working for me now that I've turn off NAT acceleration (and noticed that access is locked down to my work IP).

Cheers banddaly,

Hoping that my speed with zen will be as fast as my speed with BT as the estimate on my line from open reach and you is 51 but I get 70-73.

Got the router up and running trying to work out the port forwarding as it's not working so think I'm going to research a little. Impressed with the speed. Even my iphone is getting full speed used to top out at 55mbps on the home hub now get the full 70odd. File transfers are insane too over wifi.

Spoke to one of your telesales guys today so just waiting on my mac code.

No traffic shaping on Zen, better customer service and zen have their own equipment in my exchange. I feel if I get a problem zen will do their upmost to solve it. Working from home etc means I just need a good level of service.
