Hi,
I've got the plug and play kits for my xbox 360 controlllers, the only time they seem to die is when i stop using them and not during a game.
Because my pc is quiter than the xbox is it ok to charge the controllers using the USB ports on my pc instead of the console? Don't really want the console on when it's not in use.

Yes that's fine. Anything with a USB port that supplies power will do the job. My TV has a USB port on it (not entirely sure why) and I use that to charge my 360 and PS3 controllers.

USB on Tv is for looking at pictures and also firmware updates

If you turn the console off when the play and charge kits are plugged in to it and a controller, the xbox goes into low power mode (= quiet) until the controller is charged, then turns off fully.

Might be worth a try.
