Charity adverts

I dislike the animal charity ones. Mostly because they remind me that humans are complete and utter ******** to animals. That's why I regularly donate to two of our local ones.

What winds me up is when you buy something from a charity shop, get to the till to pay and the person at the till asks "would you like to donate?" No I wouldn't, am I not donating by buying these items?

Adverts were very different when there was only 2 commercial channels. Some were more entertaining than the programmes but they also (relatively) cost more to show. Ads like Hamlet, Cinzano, real fires and the great Boiler one. Now we have 100s of channels showing mostly rubbish, the ads cost less to show so you get these a glut of cheaply made and one's which attempt to pull on heart strings. I find it best to record on Sky plus and fast forward them. We rarely watch anything live these days and never see the ads.

The women problem ads are pushing it a bit these days huh. Who's got vaginally dryness in here?
Why is there nothing for men in the same ballpark?

It's when you sit down to dinner in front of the TV (kids have left - yey!) and the charity adverts come on. Puts me off my food and all it makes me do is change the channel.

I guess the decrease in TV watchers has forced charities to increase ads. I'm surprised they aren't on social media, youtube, streaming services etc. But i can't say i see many ads so could be wrong there. The last charity ad i saw was the standard above the urinal at a service station one.

my local Morrisons in a fairly rough area regularly has charity stands set up at the exit, couple of miles away at M+S, Sainsburys etc never see them there, I wonder why
