Charlie Brooker's Newswipe wins Best Entertainment Programme award at the Royal Television Society Awards - and the best bit? The other nominees were The X-Factor & Britain's Got Talent!

Excellent news for Brooker, probably won't make a difference to us though.

More X-Factor style shows will still be commissioned and we'll be lucky to see any shows like Brookers made by anyone ele.

He's excellent, glad he won.

I bought his book for a friend for xmas, he had it already, so I've still to read it.

If you haven't seen him already I think a couple episodes are still on iPlayer, worth a watch.

Unfortunately with these awards who you are up against doesn't mean much when so much dross is so popular. It is several levels above these other shows.

He's actually very poignant and funny, regardless of who he was placed in a category with at an awards show.

newswipe is the best thing ive seen all year

the "how to make a news report" and "on location" segments were amazing

doug stanhope segments are a double whammy of awesomeness and genius

He used to do a piece on the last page of PC Zone magazine

tbh hes got a bit too much now but I really enjoyed the first few episodes of screenwipe he did.
