Sadly there are few true "mechanics" left these days. It is mostly "technicians" who rely on what a laptop spits back out at them.
Modern cars are both fantastic and a PITA at the same time. I guess one of the benefits of electric is that a lot of these issues will go away which modern ICE engines have. Not that I am ready or willing to move to electric yet, but there are certainly a lot of benefits from that side of things.
