Cheap 125cc

There horid! but the only thing your gonna get cheap thats going to be ok i guess.

If it was me (and if i had money atm as there not cheap) id get a rs125.
Worst learner 125 ever, the rs125 is a pretty good racer for its size but needs to be pushed to the limit to get results, not really practical as a learner (GF followed this route but at least had car license/sense behind her first so only had to worry about the bike).

As mentioned before, better off with something like a cg125 if you need to go that route.

If you need cheap, go for a CG125, but you will be bored after about 23 seconds.

If you can stretch to not quite so cheap, get an RS125, I got one for my first bike, I got it cheap and luckily it didn't go bang, but they can, and do! I'm glad I got the RS, it handled like a dream and for a little 125 it really did fly!

how old are you?

EDIT: your 17

save your money and get lessons it shouldn't take long and get a proper bike, 125s are a bit boring.

£500 - lessons
£1750 - bike
£750 - insurance

Is it possible to learn on a restricted 400?

cos that would sound a helluva lot better and shift faster

My younger brother has a honda NSR 125 RR, these arent far off the Aprillia RS125 in terms of power (30bhp) and are suitable for a learner when restricted.

you might as well get one of the faster (when unrestricted) bikes, but when you are buying, bear in mind most of these 125's have been bought by learners, and as a result tend to be scratched and a bit broken, but still perfectly rideable. if you pay over the odds buy a bike that's immaculate, it soon wont be, dropping it is almost inevitable in your first few months.

That said, 125's are an overpriced portion of the market, because lots of young people want them, there's quite a demand for them, i wouldnt spend more than £1500 on your first bike, but when you do, make it £1500 well spent. being a bike it will hold its value a bit better and you should only lose a few hundred quid when you come to sell when you move to a bigger bike in 2 years

Like people have said, go with a CG125 and get your test done ASAP then get a bigger bike. I bought a CG125 and then booked my test, I passed first time and sold the CG125 for more than I paid for it. You couldn't do that with a chinese 125 or an RS125.

They do something like 100mpg and insurance was also only £120 per year and I was 19.

Another vote for CG- they last forever and they hold their value like you wouldn't believe. I'm always tempted to get one or a Cub for winter.

If you must get something cooler, don't go for one of the daft race reps- the RS125 is an entertaining bike but too highly strung, the CBR125 is just a disaster... Maybe the new Yamaha, at least it doesn't look like it came out of a cracker, but they're silly expensive. The way to go for a stylish 125 is supermoto or dirt bike- they're about as fast as the racey ones, more practical, comfier, and give you an awesome view of the road to boot.

Virago 125  Absolute horror of a bike. Yet still strangely I miss it.

I'd get the cheapest CG125 you can (eg £500 or less), spend a decent chunk on gear, get TPO insurance for £120-150 ish and keep the rest to the side for buying a 400+ bike once you get your full licence,

They'll do 100mpg+, won't go wrong and won't de-value unless you crash it.

And they're more fun than they seem at first, cause they're so light you really can chuck them around, I got one for free off a mate, put it through it's mot then rode it home as my mum/sister were having it, and tbh the 180 mile trip home, whilst long was actually more fun than I thought it was gonna be...

CG125... Most fun ive ever had. Paid £200 for mine and it lasted ages and still is going! Even been offroad with it! :D

Why is the CBR 125 a disaster? This is the Honda CBR 125R right?

I've been looking into starter bikes, and every review around the net has said its really good for a starter and commuter. Cheap insurance and fuel, reliable and an easy and enjoyable ride.

Just wondering what you know different about it? :)
