I need a 775 mobo as cheap as possible, but id still like it to be a good clocker.

Budget of £70 max, lower the better.

No need for super special features, gunna be running:

e4300 with AC7 Pro
x1950pro
Ballistix 2gb pc2-5300
Sata DVD-RW
Samsung Spinpoint.

Thanks a lot,

Dan

So is the EVGA the on to go with?

That has to be your decision. The problem with any CPU overclock is that some are just plain carp for overclocking. I would be horrified if you couldn't hit 2.7GHz with either board the EVGA or Abit, and 3GHz is definitely feasible. Beyond 3GHz with an E4300 requires skill, luck and good cooling.

The EVGA has one massive benefit over the Abit in that you can unlink the RAM speed from the CPU so if you wanted to use the relatively slow RAM from your sig rig then it wouldn't upset the CPU overclock.

Hi,

A week or so ago I asked for similar advice and follwed WJA96's recommendations (Thanks!!). The EVGA is excellent, I paired it with an E2160, and 2 gb of cheap PC5300. The board is rock solid (orthos 24 hr) at 3ghz, on stock cooling and volts, running at 1:1 with the memory. Temps now peak, having settled in, at 60c.
I shan't bother pushing further though I'm sure it would go higher.
Thanks again WJA96.

Mike.
