Looking for a NAS with the capability to hold at least 2 HDDs because I've got 2 to go in there, I've been looking at the Netgear Stora, which looks like it fits my needs for around £60, wondered if there was anything a little better out there feature wise. Depending on features may go to £100 but no more, the cheaper the better.

Edit: Bah, just realised the Stora requires me to format the drives before I can put anything on them, not much cop as the hard drives are full of stuff, is this going to be a big problem nas wise?

Until the end of this month* HP are giving a £100 rebate with orders of their Proliant Microservers. You can get them delivered for ~£210 or £110 after rebate.

Big thread on them over here.

Basically sweet little box with 4 hdd drive bays + a 5 1/4 bay. Comes with a 120 gig drive, 1GB ram, dual core 1.3GHz AMD processor and vga output should you want it. The mobo is based on a low power laptop platform.

You can load it up with windows, linux, freenas whatever you like :)

* The server needs to be ordered and shipped in December

The Proliant is absolutely ridiculous value for money at that price.

I've ordered one because... well, I don't know really, but it's just too cute and it would be rude not to. I'm sure I'll find a use for it... :)
