Hi guys first post :)

Ive been accepted to play a closed beta of "the secret world" mmorpg but I have run into a major problem!
My partners laptop which I used to use to play "Wow" around 6 months ago isnt up to spec :(

I have a pc case lying around with power supply also have keyboard, mouse, speakers and can source a monitor.

Here is the spec, im hoping to aim for the reccomended spec or an equivalent for cheap as possible. Will be using an online guide to build pc as this is my first build :O

Have fun! Looking forward to your views,

Many thanks,

Ruzzilla

Well, the recommended are reasonably high.

Cheap as possible tho, sure:

Cheapest possible H67/H61 mainboard (check clearance etc here): £35
I5 processor : £145
8GB cheapish memory (it's all cheap atm): These at £45
Graphics card: Grab something off the members market. A GTX470 would be cheaper and equal to a 560ti. £90

So thats about £315 + drives if needed.

To hit minimum spec you could take most of the same kit, cut £100 by buying one of the G620 processors as it's compatible with sandy bridge socket. When you have the additional funds, drop a 2500k I5 in it.

If you can do it on £400, easy. With £300 it's a LITTLE tight, you could drop **** memory in there and come in at £300. If you are aiming more at £200 then you are going to need to keep it very trim. The CHEAP H67/H61 board idea is worth pursuing as it gets you a base build you can build up to very near top end spec. Recently had a mate wanted a dirt cheap diablo 3/planetside 2 machine and that was doable with about £170 (G620, H67, cheap 8GB, GTX460).

For comparrison tho, the G620 is about half the man the I5 is: http://www.anandtech.com/bench/Product/406?vs=288
It comes out fairly well against the last gen ("core") of processors: http://www.anandtech.com/bench/Product/49?vs=406

Think of it as basically a core2duo in a sandybridge 1155 package, not a bad thing but it's the first part i'd spend the extra £100 on if available.

Budget is litrally as cheap as poss, the missus checked power supply and says its 220v 4a 50hz. Not sure if thats what you ment :-P

No, you need to find the brand and the wattage of the power supply

I would not trust it if it's old and with an unknown brand name !

Your looking at around £700 I would say if you need the monitor or OS as well.

YOUR BASKET
1 x Intel Core i5-3550 3.30GHz (Ivybridge) Socket LGA1155 Processor (77W) - Retail £164.99
1 x OcUK GeForce GTX 560Ti 1024MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card £155.99
1 x Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium SP1 64-Bit - OEM (GFC-02050) £79.98
1 x Western Digital Caviar Blue 500GB SATA 6Gb/s 16MB Cache - OEM (WD5000AAKX) £57.98
1 x Zalman Z9 Plus Tower Case with Fan Controller - Black £49.99
1 x Gigabyte H61MA-D3V Intel H61 (Socket 1155) DDR3 Motherboard £47.99
1 x OCZ ZS Series 550W '80 Plus Bronze' Power Supply £46.98
1 x GeIL Dragon 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C11 1600MHz Dual Channel Kit (GD38GB1600C11DC) £37.99
1 x Sony Optiarc AD-5280S 24x DVD±RW SATA ReWriter (Black) - OEM £14.99
Total : £671.88 (includes shipping : £12.50).

Personally I would get a Z77 board with a K series CPU and upgrade to a 7850 over the 560. However you asked for cheapest spec following the recommended guidelines.

Mercutio im liking your price rarther than bacons atm :0 £700 is way to steep for me :(.

I have monitor, keyboard, mouse, speakers, box and will be purchasing the OS seprate from this price, although i would like sujestions as what would be best windows OS to run this on. Was thinking Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit.

Keeping with the cheap and cheerful i have just dismantled 2 repo pc's both rarther old tbf so not expecting many salvageable parts but here it goes:

Power supplys -
Sin or 5th vision (unable to read first bit of sticker) switching 450w
Codegen 400w 400x

Motherboards -
As Rock DD R400
K7 Triton DD R400+

HDD's -
Samsung SP0842N 80gb
Seagate Barraccuda 7200.7 40gb

Processor's-
AMD from AS Rock MB - has code 29131 fits 754 socket
AMD from K7 Triton - unable to tell anything else from this processor

Graphic's - MGA Matrox Card

Also have an LG dvd rewriter that will be used in the new build.

Well thats it Frankenstien Build FWT =P

Let me know if any of the above is useable :) many thanks

No offense to Mercution but for the price hes suggesting EVERYTHING would have to be second hand, even then its unlikely you will get that for the price.

You've chosen a game with high reccomended components and as such will cost a fair amount.

I already have a case ready and waiting, so do not require one for this build unless each case only houses a specific motherboard?
As stated above I also already have a power supply would it be suitable? What are downsides or problems with running a low power supply?
Also for the h61 main board what type of ram would I need to fit the sockets.

Thank you for all your replys so far, searching the net for parts has reduced my price to £193 ex p&p and also not including power supply or case :-)

Cheers for the heads up on that mother board it looks extreamly future proof and a perfect foundation on which to build then expand my gaming pc :-D

As with the power supply do you think that is more the output I am looking towards, 550v? I do plan to upgrade the graphics card, and the processor when funds are available so will that support an i7 processor for example?

As regards to the other parts I am unaware if they are used or new, I have done preliminary research by comparing prices in ebay and google shopping.

Thanks again for speedy replys and great advice :-)

A 550W will support an i7 and a 7850 but it wont support SLI of any mid-top range graphics cards. The H61 board also does not support overclocking.

So long as you can remove the psu without having to take out too many other components when I come round to upgrading I will just leave it until then.

My focus at the moment us getting this pc bought and put together as quickly and cheaply as possible to get playing my beta :-P

I would highly reccomend buying a 550W as you will not need to upgrade it unless you run a SLI or Crossfire system whereas the 430 would need upgrading.
