Looks fine.
I would personally try and stretch a bit further and go for something like this;
It will pack more of a punch, and should last longer as well.

exactly, its going to replace my 2nd machine (shuttle SK43G), which will be used as a test machine for my exams so really doesn't need to be expensive or super quick

i've refined my order, i've upgraded the shuttle, CPU and doubled the memory as it's going to be virtualised so decided on more memory

looks good to me, i think the extra ram is a wise choice and definately worth it for only £10 more

i'd go with the first spec you did just change the memory to 4gb.
the first shuttle only takes a max of 2x1gb and i want to be able to put in a blu ray drive at some point as the first shuttle on takes slim line drives

i'm glad ocuk have taken 10 days so far to get me my order as i was able to cancel the e5300 and get an e6600 else where for £10 less

Blimey. I was looking at spending a similar amount to use an old Winchester S939 Athlon 64 I have kicking around here.
That first spec looks great for a boggo email/'tinternet machine - only problem I can see is the crappy intel IGP which would be rubbish for video - anything more than 720p would make it wet itself I imagine.
Shame there is a distinct lack of shuttle/barebone MiniITX boxes at that price range with PCI-E - one of those, 2Gb RAM, cheapy HD capable GPU and a cheap HD connected up to a NAS would make a perfect all round PC for when I don't want to boot up the Big Box.
Unless anyone can suggest a MiniITX setup with PCI-E. Or something I can do with this Winchester I have here....
