Cheap CPU for CSGO machine?

Hi, I'd like to build a cheap csgo machine. Have already got a Gigabyte gtx 1080.

Would the i3-12100F bottleneck that gpu? If it would be a mistake, what CPU would you recommend instead?

Many thanks in advance.

CS:GO does quite well on AMD CPUs:

The Ryzen 5 5600X appears to be quite similar to a Core i5 12600K in the game. The Core i3 12100F does do reasonably well for a £110 CPU,but if you shop around the Ryzen 5 5600 non-X can be had for around £130ish. I would make sure you pair the CPU with 3200MHZ or 3600MHZ DDR4. Unless you need PCI-E 4.0,then an A520 based motherboard will be fine for around £70ish but a lower end B550 can be had for around £100 which has PCI-E 4.0 and overclocking support.

Thanks for the advice CAT, will go with what you recommend.
This gives you a rough comparison of performance:

I upgraded CPU a few months back and the only non-dead platform to buy into was AMD, so I got a 7600x. I'm extremely pleased with it and I figure in a couple years I can toss in like a 9850x3d. With a 4080 in doom eternal I get 600 fps 1080, 500 in 1440p, like 350 in 4k if I recall, with RTX off but graphics pinned to max.

With that said, if all I was interested in was a quick and dirty CSGO machine, I'd probly just check kajiji or typical stores for the cheapest vaguely modern CPU/mobo bundle, essentially any CPU from the last 3-4 years will work won't it? Like I'm pretty sure an I7-6700k will pull 300+ fps

Hi, this is what i've come up with, already have gpu and found a set of 3600Mhz Ram in a box :)

Ryzen 5 5600 £150 https://www.overclockers.co.uk/amd-...hz-socket-am4-processor-retail-cp-3d2-am.html
Be Quiet! CPU cooler £25 https://www.overclockers.co.uk/be-quiet-pure-rock-slim-2-cpu-cooler-92mm-hs-01s-bq.html
Gigabyte B550 Board £116 https://www.overclockers.co.uk/gigabyte-b550-gaming-x-v2-amd-am4-b550-atx-motherboard-mb-594-gi.html
Seasonic 650W PSU £70 https://www.overclockers.co.uk/seasonic-g12-gc-650-650w-80-gold-power-supply-ca-07m-ss.html
WD Black 1TB SSD £75 https://www.overclockers.co.uk/wd-b...-solid-state-drive-wds100t3x0e-hd-58f-wd.html
Be Quiet! Pure Base 500 Midi Tower case £80 https://www.overclockers.co.uk/be-quiet-pure-base-500-midi-tower-case-black-ca-13p-bq.html

I make that £516. I don't really want to skimp on the psu and would like a quieter cpu cooler but is there anything else anyone would change (motherboard is the cheapest they have in stock atm).

Looks good, you're right about the PSU, never skimp on that and Seasonic are as good as it gets, £70 for that is quite reasonable.
Same with the motherboard, you can get something a bit cheaper but for the difference in quality its just not worth the £30 savings.
CPU cooler is a little on the light side but a good brand and the CPU you're buying is very efficient, so i don't see a problem there.
SSD, yeah good, not much to say about it.
Nice case...

I'm running a slightly higher end B550 Aorus Elite AX V2 for a 5800X, fantastic motherboard, rock solid and all that... yours is a similar board.

Yeah its all good :)

Something quieter would be the same but a bit larger.

The one you have linked there has a 92mm fan, the one i have linked below is a 120mm fan, those BeQuiet fans are not bad, they are quiet and the larger cooler will also help dissipate heat, not that the 5600 produces much.

Its about £11 more. or another £5 gets you it in black so it looks like the one in the case photo... Edit: in fact its the one they used.

I'm afraid not, I can't find them at OCUK anymore. For a similar price, maybe the semi-modular Corsair TX650M for £65 (inc del). For another £10 (£80 inc del): Antec Earthwatts Pro EA650G (is semi-modular, Seasonic-built, with a 7 year warranty, if you get the Chinese FSP version then send it back).

If you wanted full-modular, with a 10 year warranty, NZXT C Series, EVGA G6 or Toughpower GF1.
