After an unexpected expense yesterday, I am left with £18 to feed 2 people for 8 days.

I have the basic things such as pasta, rice, noodles, herbs ect and some frozen chicken breasts and pork chops that I bought a while ago.

Any ideas?

Thats going to be tight :s
£18 is the max you have? No chance of dipping into an overdraft for a week?

Your going to have to eat large amounts of that pasta/rice/noodles with little to garnish them

I could, but I don't actually have an overdraft limit so it would be an unarranged overdraft which will include hefty charges if not paid back the same day.

I managed to sweet talk the lady at the greengrocer, and got a bag of stuff for £5

8 carrots,
1 Broccoli,
1 Cauliflower,
1 Swede,
6 Large Potatoes
Quite a few new potatoes,
3 onions,
Bunch of spring onions,
3 Leeks,
Garlic blub
3 Apples,
3 Oranges,
2 Lemons,
And the best bit: A punnet of strawberries (normally £2 on their own.)

Gotta love small village shops.

Also went into the butcher and got a kilo of diced beef that I paid £6 for, which I am going to use in a stew which will be enough for 3-4 meals, maybe more.

How the hell can you only have £18 to last your 8 days on food. I'd recommend trying to manage ur budgets better. £18 wouldnt last us(2x adults, 1xinfant) 3 days

It's hard to budget for the unexpected. ;)

OT: 4 days in and I have plenty of food left, so it's not looking like the crisis that I originally thought it would be. Thanks for all of your suggestions and advice guys and girls.
