Hi,

I am looking for a cheap (sub £100 is possible) and 1/2 decent exercise bike and rowing machine. Do they exist? It is just for occasional use and nothing major just weight loss.

Thanks

Daven

I wouldn't bother, even the ones in the gym break down quite a lot. (and im assuming they are pretty expensive)

I think eventually with wear and tear it will break sooner rather then later, especially for £100.

You'd be better off getting a real bike, especially for that price. You could also buy a kayak or something similar fairly cheaply if you live close to somewhere you can use it :p

The footprint of those sort of machines are very small. Not a patch on gym gear. I bought a cross trainer, it was £169ish. It was terrible. No smoothness, too small of movement and more often than not were dangerous due to falling over before you even get a sweat on!

Do you already have a bike? if so, and you just font want to cycle outside, you could buy a turbo trainer for less than £100. This will be far better than a cheap exercise bike and might even get you into proper cycling :)

If weight loss is 'nothing major' and will only be used occasionally, you'd be better off paying for single sessions at a gym.

I guess occasional wasn't the right word, it will be used for at least 6 months after which progress will be reviewed as to whether it is better than a gym membership.

Ahh right. Equipment in that price range isn't particular brilliant. I'd probaly be looking to spend nearer to £300 minimum on an X-trainer. That's 10 months of gym member ship roughly. Not to mention maintenance/repairs/replacement should anything go wrong.

they cost thousands and they break down because they are used a lot.
far far far more than a home one would be used!
