Cheap graphics card to handle two monitors

Hi all,

I am interested in purchasing a nVidia 8XXX graphics card because I want future DirectX-10 support.

I do not play games, and when I do they are years old so horse power is not essential for me. However, I do intend to use two monitors and make use of Vista's prettiness in the future and I do not want the card to struggle.

Do you have any recommendations? My budget is no more than £50.00.

Tia,

Might be able to stretch to an 8600GT with a few quid more.

With you wanting 8XXX the only other option would be an 8500GT.

Not meaning to sound rude, but there is ZERO point in having a bottom end DX10 card, it won't actually be powerful enough to utilise its DX10 instruction set, especially at a decent framerate at a decent (1024x768+) resolution.

Get a previous generation card, don't be sucked into marketing hype, and bask in the glory that your "older" card is quicker and better value for money.

Got you, I should have thought of that before.

On that info - Asus Nvidia 7300GS 256MB DVI VGA TV - should be fine for two monitors?

For £50 I'd have the ATi X1650 (Ok ok so its £2.86 over the £50 limit), it will walk all over everything else mentioned.

ATi really? I was under the impression nVidia had stepped up the game above ATi recently. It was paining me to defect to nVidia, but happy to hear there is hope - I'll do some research.

They have/had, but you have to remember that all the "news" regarding this is always refering to the top-end cards.
