Cheap headlight bulbs

Those cheap bulbs are awful, tried the Lucas they last few months then go pop, Osram are rubbish aswell. I now use Philips Xtreme, great bulbs, had them 2 years so far touchwood.

I haven't blown a headlamp bulb in something like 7 years. I don't know what you lot must be doing to them

I was looking at the bulbs in Halfords the other day and saw some 'all weather bulbs'... what are they, and has anyone tried them? I'm looking to get some better (dipped beam) bulbs for the oncoming winter, but am not sure what to go for... Focus MkII btw.

I just bought a pair of H7 Philips X-Treme Vision+ 130% for £17 from Euro Car Parts

I put these in my wife's Qashqai when one of the bulbs went. The difference was night and day to be fair. The ones they replaced were Osram bulbs from what I remember. Very good bulbs and worth the money.

I normally buy whatever the cheapest uprated bulbs are at the time I need them; Philips, Osram etc

I've some Philips Vision Plus to fit to my Octavia when it dries out which were around £10 the pair iirc

I've run ebay specials in all my cars for a while. H4 And H7, 100w not once a failure yet. had them in the current car 3-4 years nice bright white light, they were 4.99 for two.

yes I'm aware that 100w is over spec, but meh! only live once, go rebel Me.

IIRC I asked about these before, they supposedly throw a mix of colours which reflect differently (due to the different wavelengths) meaning you don't get dazzled by rain/fog. Apparently :p
