Hey all.

Brother wants us all to go on holiday next year when kids are off for 6 weeks hols.

We arnt rich and just bro works and sis just got a job so theres a lot of saving to do till next year. He said save 700 for it.

Question is. Which country/area is a good place to go for a family of 7 (3 kids under 15) Gotta be cheap, sun, stuff for kids like pool with slides etc. Near beach, good entertainment for family at night and kid clubs through the day.

Somewhere safe

Lots of choices and holiday searches always usually say "enter your destination" well we dunno where we wana go we rather filter all of them by price.

Might want all inclusive but it might be too expensive.

Child places free if poss unless cheap enough.

So any ideas for places, sites to visit to search on, places to avoid? etc.

North east so probably fly from newcastle airport.

Plenty of bargains out there in regions Brits are avoiding - which in itself doesn't mean said areas are dangerous - a mate of mine is off to Sharm el Sheikh in August for roughly a third of the cost he paid for his last holiday there.

If you can get over the fact the likelihood of you been caught up in anything is probably less than the risk of crossing the road (statistically) then go for it!

Always liked Alcudia, Majorca, the sea is perfect for kids as it's waist height for a decent way out.

Sorry unless you have children, RoahNS reckons any comments about family holidays are null and void. The obvious option is to take them on holiday during the school term.

I'd wait another year to save up - £700 would probably barely get you flights.

He's got a point for 7 people.

OP is it you and 5 kids, or are you including your brothers family in that quota too?

Mallorca normally has some very good deals, you can pick out some all-inclusive 3 star hotels for a fairly decent price. You might find you get a better deal booking hotel/transfer/flights separate as opposed to a package holiday, but make sure you check out both.

If you're on a hard budget, all-inclusive might be worth considering, as you know where you are with spending then. Half-board/self-catering will likely be cheaper, but by the time you've factored in lunch/dinner for 7 people each day that price soon adds up.

Hoho... Another personal troll eh? Still smarting from last time I see

£700 for a family that size in six week holidays. Its going to be a tent by a bin in Benidorm for you I'm afraid. Lot of good meals will be thrown out and as for drinks... The drunks wont notice.

For your budget you might be able to get somewhere in mainland Spain or possibly the Canaries, possibly the last or first week of the school holidays. You'll often find that whilst not discounted quite as much as taking a holiday entirely in term time, taking a flight back 1-2 days in to the start of term can drop the cost drastically as well. Might not be a good idea if any of your kids is starting at a new school but it's worth looking at otherwise.

You can go to San Miguel Beach Club in Ibiza for a week all inclusive for £855 each. 2 rooms. You didn't mention actual ages of the children or how many are yours or your brothers, so I put in a few perimeters (two couples one kid for one couple and two for the second couple all 3 at 14 years old) and this came up. Selected seats too.

Wed 9th August 2017 Edinburgh (closest to Newcastle I could get you)
6am flight.
£5981 total (£854.43 each) includes a £378 discount.

Good hotel, good food (all inclusive), friendly staff, clean, tidy, a little dated decor etc but I am sure you can see past that, we did last year. Nice pool but no slides iirc, fantastic atmosphere, great kids entertainment daytime and evening, very close to the beach, eg on the beach, secluded resort, nice views, bus outside to San An/Ibiza and other places.

I would go back in a heart beat.

if your budget is £700 total, then I am afraid you will struggle to get anywhere unless it is a last minute deal, I mean last minute, like flying out within a few hours after booking last minute haha..

Good luck anyway.:)

^ Last minute deal for £700....no chance!

I looked last year and even the so called last minute deals were still in the thousands. Kids and school holidays, bend over and get the credit card out.

Last minute deals are rare. Best time to book we were told by family friend in the industry is as the holidays come out. The first 10 or so flight seats are the cheapest and then go up in increments.

As a test we did this last year (and year before). Paid £1,100pp and then went in a month before holiday to check price for roughly the same time it was over £1500 iirc. Equally we know from this year had we booked when first available it would have cost £895. So there is some truth and I say this as someone who regularly goes on holidays.

You can get a mobile home/caravan at a holiday park with water slides and entertainment in South of France for about £700. You'd need to factor in travel costs, though.

Something like this looks alright:

I'd drive there - a night in a Premier Inn in Dover, to break up the journey, plus ferry crossing would be about £200 (£270 if you hotel it both ways), and fuel would be maybe £150.

Yeah I know they are extremely rare, I managed to get one for £300 (total to Portugal for 7 nights) for 2 of us , granted it was a few years back now but they are still out there, just knowing where to look and get lucky.:)

Last minute package deals aren't what they used to be. Going back almost 10 years, Mrs Cheesyboy and I went to a lovely little hotel in Turkey for £150pp B&B for 7 days. It was great. Egypt for £250pp (or maybe it was £350...?) a couple of years after that too. All in the summer hols.
