Cheap (maybe free) recording software

After reading this thread last night (thread) it looks like this software would do for a lot of people getting into recording - http://www.reaper.fm/

Some say it carries on for way past a month so its worth a try.

If you're after something free, Audacity is pretty good.

This is a multi track recorder rather like Cubase and Cakewalk products.
The guys who wrote it worked on Vegas which is also a massive application.

DM, before I join the forum, do they have a section or advice regarding free VST plugins? (or cheap at least? hehe).

No idea but according to all those reviews it will work no problem with free VST plugins. Google brings up a few - http://www.google.co.uk/search?hl=en&q=vst+plugins+free&btnG=Google+Search
