As my P5B Deluxe mobo has died on me, im in need of a mobo, im not sure on what chipset i need e.t.c as im not a pc person myself. All i know is that its a LGA775 Board, need one for under £100 if possible...

Many Thanks for your time.

What CPU are you currently running? A good s775 board will cost you around £60 and a very good one around £90.

But depending on the chip you plan to use in it, you may be better spending the money on an new AMD setup - an AM3 board + X2 Athlon processor will cost you a touch over your £100 goal.

Hi Firmy,

sorry to ask but if your not a PC person how do you know your motherboard is dead? . . . could it be something else? :D

If you do need help deciding what the problem is then list up all your relevant hardware info and include its ages, if bought new or used etc and describe what the problem is . . .

Cheapest:

Asus P5QPL-AM Intel G41

£36.98 inc VAT - This Week Only Offer
If Firmy's board is toast then the Asus P5QPL-AM you suggested if a fine choice and great value for money!

Well to cut the story short, coke spilled over my pc tower through the top fan and pc shut off, wouldn't turn on again, so claimed on the house insurance, they've took it too an engineer who said that the motherboard was dead, but their was a underlaying problem with the moterboard before the incident, and for that they said that i cannot claim, so now i have to order a mobo myself, and thats where we are now :P Haha..

Ah the old Death-By-Cola heh! :D

Hmmm . . . so that doesn't sound good although you don't know for sure if the other parts are ok or not?

That ASUS board above is decent, I've used half a dozen for value builds and was suprised how solid and reliable they are . . . . you kinda expect corners to be cut with the cheaper boards but those ASUS ones run solid as a rock with all the basic features one would need (SATA-II, USB 2.0, PCI 1.1 x16, 5:1 Audio, Gigabit LAN, Onboard graphics, DDR2-1066 support etc), they also allow some basic BIOS adjustment and overclocking features!

Yer i don't actually know for sure that the other parts are affected like you say, as i haven't got another build to test them with e.t.c, i just basically want something the same as my previous one that is compatible with my specs above, i need to order the new mobo soon, so would you recommend the one stated above?

The mobo supports only 2 sticks of RAM, i would like to keep my specs, so would need the extra 2 slots if possible.
